Donegal Pullover is the most simple raglan pullover with a wide standing mock neck. The garment is worked top down in a round with a few short rows shaping the neck and gradual increases along the raglan lines. This could easily be your first pullover!
The pattern is written for nine sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9) with a finished bust circumference of ca. 83 (95, 104, 113, 125) (135, 144, 153, 165) cm // 33 (38, 41.5, 45.25, 50) (54, 57.5, 61.25, 66) in incl. at least 10 cm (4 in) of positive ease.
The sample is shown in size 2 on a 160 cm (5.3 ft) tall model with ca. 84–66–94 cm (33–26–39 in) body measurements. For more finished garment measurements, please refer to the schematic.
A total of 380 (430, 480, 530, 580, 630, 680, 730, 780) g of Aran Tweed from Donegal Yarns, 100% irish wool with 160 m (174 yds) in 100 g skein, shown in shade #2017 (light grey);
or ca. 608 (688, 768, 848, 928) (1008, 1088, 1168, 1248) m // 663 (750, 837, 924, 1012) (1099, 1186, 1273, 1360) yds of any other heavy worsted/aran weight yarn to match the gauge.
3.0 mm (2.5 US) 40-60 cm (16-24 in) circular needles for the neck ribbing;
4.0 mm (6 US) 80-100 cm (32-40 in) circular needles for the body;
spare cables, scrap yarn and/or stitch holders;
at least 5 removable stitch markers;
row counter (optional).
18 sts and 28 rows in 10 cm (4 in) with twisted rib on 3.0 mm (US 2.5 or 3) needles after blocking;
15 sts and 22 rows in 10 cm (4 in) with stockinette stitch on 4.0 mm (US 6) needles after blocking.
Adjust the needle sizes if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
