Maretak is a top-down, in-the-round yoke sweater inspired by the gentle beauty of mistletoe. The name Maretak is Dutch for mistletoe — a plant long associated with protection. In many ancient cultures (notably Celtic and Norse), mistletoe was believed to have protective powers. Druids considered it sacred and used it to ward off evil, bring good luck, and protect homes.

The round yoke features a floral colourwork motif that echoes the soft curves of mistletoe leaves and berries, repeated again at the bottom hem. The body and sleeves are knit in a textured dot stitch and finished with ribbed cuffs and hem for a clean, classic look.

You can take a closer look at my sample and discover the design process in Episode 46 of my podcast on YouTube.
