The Floks vest grew from a simple lace motif called “cat paws”. By reimagining the lace repeats as blossoms, I transformed the motif into a field of flowers — each one nestled inside its own garter-stitch “pocket”. Romantic yet versatile, Floks can be knit in a lightweight yarn for an airy layering piece or in a chunky wool for warmth and coziness. Another charming detail — it is reversible, allowing you to choose which side speaks to you on every occasion.

The vest is worked from the bottom up. The body is knit in the round to the armholes, where the work is divided and the front and back are completed separately in rows. The shoulders are joined using Kitchener stitch for a seamless finish. Finally, the neckline and armholes are edged with simple garter-stitch trims that complement the floral lace “pockets” and tie the design together.
