The Leipziger hat is knitted seamless in the round from the bottom up with alternating twisted knit and purl stitches. Simple, elegant, classic hat, that could be worn slouchy as well as a cap with folding edge and is double faced.
Sizes
The pattern is written for three sizes: Children (fitting 50-53.5 cm head circumference), Small (54-56.5 cm) and Large (57-60 cm). The finished length from the bottom to the top of the crown in adult sizes is 25 cm.
Yarn
ca. 82 g of Manos del Uruguay Milo, 65% merino wool & 35% linen, for a Small size knitted with two strands held together, shown in colourway Baltico.
Or any other similar yarn(s) to match the gauge.
Needles & notions
∙ A pair of 3.5 mm circular needles,
∙ 3.5 mm double pointed needles for the crown,
∙ tapestry needle,
∙ 6 stitch markers.
Gauge
20 sts and 30 rows in 10 cm with twisted rib after blocking.
Adjust the needle size to obtain the correct gauge if necessary.
