These ankle socks are a sister design to Wusai hat and the soon-to-be-released Wusai vest, featuring the same textured pattern. The socks are knit top-down in the round with a short row heel. The design has sections, that are worked with a single strand of fingering weight yarn and two strands held together.

Wusai comes from Ukrainian and means “the one with whiskers” — a reference to the featured textured pattern.

Sizes

The pattern is written for three sizes
1 (2, 3) to fit 16 (19, 22) cm // 6.5 (7.75, 8.75) in
foot circumference, which can be easily adjusted.

Please refer to the schematic for finished sock measurements.
I would also recommend using a cuff/ankle measurement to determine the size.
The sample is shown in size 2 for EU 38 (UK 5.5, US 7.5) size and the yardage is estimated accordingly. That means that you will need slightly less yarn for a smaller foot size and more for larger.

Yarn

ca. 75 (85, 95) g or 1 skein of Sokka from Studio Solas,
80% Finnwool, 20% biodegradable polyamide,
with 360 m (394 yds) in 100 g, shown in colourway Undyed Light Grey;
or ca. 270 (306, 342) m // 295 (335, 374) yds of any other fingering weight sock yarn.

∙ 2.5 mm (US 1.5) and 4.0 mm (US 6) circular or double pointed needles;
